Dental Implant Cost: USA, UK, Turkey, China and More Compared
Published
Most people start with one number from a local dentist, then find that the next office quotes something quite different. One patient in California described it this way.
In one line
One implant with abutment and crown typically costs USD 3,000–7,000 in the US and GBP 2,000–3,000 privately in the UK, while patients in China report paying a median of about CNY 6,000 (≈ USD 900) for the same work since the 2023 reforms.
Advertised prices are rarely like for like. Turkey advertises headline prices close to what patients in China report paying, Mexico is closer for Americans, and any implant abroad needs two trips about 3–6 months apart. Compare written, itemised quotes for the same scope.
I'm in the process of getting an implant now and have been to like 6 offices… Lowest quote i got was 6,900$ for 3 implants + zirconia crown. No graft / Extraction. 1 office quoted me around 12500.
The spread is normal, because an implant is a bundle of parts and visits, and every clinic bundles it differently. Below are the typical advertised ranges by country, what a fair quote should include, and where China fits honestly in the comparison.
How much does a dental implant cost all in?
For one implant with its abutment and crown, typical advertised prices are about USD 3,000–7,000 in the US, GBP 2,000–3,000 at private UK practices, CAD 3,000–6,000 in Canada and AUD 3,500–6,000 in Australia. In China, the 2023 national reforms cut implant system prices by about 55% and capped the service fee, and patients now report paying a median of about CNY 6,000 (≈ USD 900) for one implant with crown (Chinese patient reports, 2025–26).

Sources: the US range comes from a 2024–25 cost guide (KeyDecision); the UK from TreatCompare's 2026 survey of 1,125 practices, with a median of about GBP 2,500; Canada from a 2026 Aeva guide; Australia from the ADA fee survey (25th–75th percentile) as reported by CompareDentists in June 2026, where the Bupa average is AUD 4,800. The China figure is the median of what patients in China report paying (Chinese patient reports, 2025–26). The abroad figures come mostly from clinic and broker price pages in 2025–26, so read them as advertised ranges rather than averages.
In China the brand and the hospital move the price most. Patients in China report paying a median of about CNY 6,000 (≈ USD 900) per tooth all-in across 80 reports, nearer CNY 8,250 (≈ USD 1,250) at public hospitals and CNY 6,000 (≈ USD 900) at private clinics, with reports ranging from about CNY 2,600 (≈ USD 390) to CNY 16,800 (≈ USD 2,500); top hospitals in Beijing and Shanghai have quoted CNY 10,000–13,000 (≈ USD 1,500–1,950) for a premium Swiss implant (Chinese patient reports, 2025–26). Your own quote depends on the hospital and the department. Foreign visitors are not covered by Chinese insurance. At a standard department, foreign patients pay the same listed price as local patients who pay without insurance; international departments charge more.
What should the price of a dental implant include?
A complete price covers the implant itself, the abutment that connects it to the tooth, the crown, the surgery, imaging and the follow-up visits. Many clinics advertise a "from" price that covers only part of this. In the TreatCompare survey, the lowest UK quotes (from GBP 585) covered the implant only. The usual extras are a cone-beam CT scan, an extraction, a bone graft or sinus lift, a zirconia crown upgrade, a temporary tooth and sedation.
Brand matters twice: once for the price and again for repairs later. A Bangkok clinic's 2026 packages, for example, run from THB 60,000 with a Swiss SIC implant to THB 95,000 with a Straumann BLX. Choosing a system that dentists in your home country recognise makes later servicing easier, as this UK patient found.
At some point my implant went a bit loose and the screw needed some tightening. Absolutely NOBODY in the UK wanted to touch a foreign implant… I had to go back to bulgaria to get it tightened again… So overall it's still an order of magnitude cheaper than here, but be ready to travel back in case of any issues/complications.
Ask every clinic or hospital to confirm in writing
- The implant brand and system, and whether dentists at home can service it
- Whether the CT scan, extraction, bone graft or sinus lift are included
- The abutment type and the crown material
- Whether you get a temporary tooth while the implant heals
- How many visits are needed and how long each stay is
- What follow-up you get after you go home
- One total price in one currency, with nothing marked 'from'
Why are dental implants so expensive in the US?
Part of the answer is how the price is split. A 2024–25 US cost guide cites a national average of USD 2,312 for the surgical placement code D6010 alone, before the abutment and crown are added. The other part is coverage. In the CareQuest Institute's 2024 survey, 27% of US adults, about 72 million people, said they had no dental insurance. Even with a plan, cover for implants is often partial, which is why many people end up comparing cash prices.
They quoted me $4000+ just to get one tooth implant + crown. Apparently, that's already partially covered, too.
Asking for an itemised written plan, getting two or three quotes for the same scope and asking about payment plans are all reasonable steps before looking abroad. Sometimes a local quote turns out to be close enough that travel is not worth it. If the gap is large, it is worth adding travel, hotel nights and time off work to the comparison before deciding.
Are dental implants cheaper abroad, including in Europe?
Yes, the advertised prices abroad are usually much lower than at home. Broker guides list EUR 450–900 for one implant and crown in Istanbul and EUR 700–1,000 in Budapest (2025–26), and a Los Algodones clinic price list puts an implant plus crown and abutment at about USD 1,200–1,800 (2026). Patients in China report paying about CNY 6,000 (≈ USD 900) for the same work (Chinese patient reports, 2025–26): close to Istanbul, at the lower end of Budapest and below Los Algodones. For many Americans Mexico is simply closer. Turkey also has long experience with packaged dental trips that include hotels and transfers.
What China offers is different. Its public-hospital prices are set within a national framework that you can check line by line, implants are placed in hospital stomatology departments, and the same trip can include other care. A full health checkup, for example, costs patients in China a median of about CNY 1,500 (≈ USD 220), or about CNY 4,000 (≈ USD 600) for a premium package (Chinese patient reports, 2025–26). The trade-off is distance, a language barrier without help, and the same two trips any implant needs. Whichever country you consider, the deciding factor is usually the quality of the written plan rather than the headline number.
How much do full-arch implants cost?
Full-arch work, such as All-on-4 or a fixed zirconia bridge on several implants, is priced per arch and varies much more than single implants. Advertised ranges per arch are about USD 20,000–35,000 or more in the US, GBP 9,500–18,000 in the UK, USD 3,000–8,000 in Turkey, USD 8,500–11,000 in Los Algodones and EUR 5,900–7,800 in Hungary (2025–26, clinic and broker figures).

China has no official full-arch price. The national rules let hospitals price full-arch and other complex implants case by case. Full-mouth prices posted online are dominated by promotional posts, so we do not give a typical patient-paid figure; each hospital quotes from your own CT scan. For full-arch work, ask whether the first trip ends with temporary teeth or the final bridge, and what the final bridge is made of.
